Encountering Mawa .Dzulo’s beats often feels like you’re vaguely remembering a dream that feels far too familiar to be just that. There’s something real and tangible about them. It’s the sound you hear while drifting in that sweet spot between being awake and asleep; or, in the moments you close your eyes and feel that warm hug of being home again.
On their latest project, Black Gold, the four-tracker pulls you into a world of hazy and warm terrains that gently hold you outside of time.

100% of the proceeds made on this record will be given to the Women’s Economic Empowerment Project based in Zambia. Since 2014, their goal has been to fight poverty by hosting workshops aimed at teaching women from rural and urban areas about sustainable development, entrepreneurial leadership, and menstrual hygiene; as well as working with local food-banking organisations to put food on people’s tables.
These funds will help ensure that WEEP can continue hosting workshops; donate food, face masks, and menstrual care products to those in need; and to support the livelihoods of those working within the organisation.
